Maxene Magalona is slowly becoming more open about her separation from her husband Rob Mananquil.
In a recent interview with TV host Toni Gonzaga, the actress recalled the time she felt like it was time to put an end to their marriage. “I had that moment na parang naisip ko, enough is enough. I didn’t feel like I was myself anymore,” she mused, adding that she also found her former lover in the same situation. “Both of us were struggling na.”
While it was Maxene who first decided that they were no longer matching each other’s energy, she stressed that their breakup was “more of a mutual decision” between them. For a while, they tried to make it work. But they both eventually determined it would be best for them to part ways.
“A separation is painful. You have to grieve that. It’s a loss, a heartbreak, a failure. You have to come to terms with that,” she said.
“But at the same time, no matter how painful, you will have to accept that everything does happen for a reason,” added Maxene.

The local star shared that she’s been “forming connections” with other people lately so she can continue living life on her own terms even with pain in her heart.
When asked about the kind of love she now desires, Maxene answered: “A conscious love. I want him to be self-aware, conscious, spiritual, connected to God, knows what he wants. I want an artist—someone who can create and just be passionate. I want someone who loves life as much as I do.”
Maxene and Rob tied the knot in January 2018. Breakup speculations started circulating in January 2022, when they unfollowed each other on Instagram and Maxene dropped Rob’s surname from her IG profile.
