Indie-pop artist Rex Orange County, whose real name is Alexander O'Connor, has appeared in court in London for the six counts of sexual assault charged at him.

According to The Sun, O'Connor allegedly assaulted a woman aged over 16 in the West End in June, again in a taxi, and three further times at his Notting Hill home the following day.

When he appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London on Oct. 11, the singer denied the accusations. He was released on bail ahead of the three-day trial.

"Alex is shocked by the allegations, which he denies, and looks forward to clearing his name in court," a representative said in a statement. "He is unable to make any further comment because of the ongoing proceedings."

O'Connor is set to make his next court appearance in January 2023.

In July, the musician canceled some tour dates due to "unforeseen personal circumstances."

"I am having to spend some time at home this year and I will not be able to continue with touring as planned," he wrote on Twitter. "This is the last thing I want to do. I love touring and I am so sorry to be letting anyone down. I look forward to getting back to it as soon as I can."

Rex Orange County rose to fame in 2017 for getting featured in Tyler, the Creator's Grammy-nominated album Flower Boy. The artist, who has over 21 million monthly listeners on Spotify, has released one mix tape and three studio albums titled Apricot Princess, Pony, and Who Cares. Some of his most popular tracks include Sunflower, Loving Is Easy, Best Friend, and Television/So Far So Good.
