Meet Chloe Magno, the face of Vogue PH's maiden issue

By Mia Fulache Published Aug 30, 2022 9:05 pm

Vogue Philippines released its maiden issue on Monday, Aug. 30, with a cover girl who many may not know by name but has a distinct face that exudes the timeless beauty of Filipinas.

Her name is Chloe Magno, the fresh face gracing the cover of the global magazine's first issue in the Philippines. Donned in an abaca silk dress by Rajo Laurel and small flame studs by Chris Habana, Magno referred to the magazine's cover as a product of love.

"I cannot begin to describe what this cover means to me and everyone involved with this story. This is the product of love," Magno wrote in her Instagram post on Aug. 30.

"I have been fortunate enough to work in this industry for a decade," she continued. "I gave my everything to this shoot and I know the same is true for everyone who worked on this monumental project."

Vogue Philippines said that its maiden issue highlights the country's three main islands as tribute to the Filipinos' roots as islanders. And for its cover, Chloe said that she and the production team rode "planes, bangkas, tricycles" and went on a week-long adventure. "We trekked through cliffside forests, raced against the tides, swam to locations, and climbed across daunting rock formations," she added.

In her post, the 30-year-old model also put the spotlight on the local communities who, she said, offered "support, knowledge, and encouragement every step of the way."

"These photos are a dedication to the beauty and spirit every Filipino person holds in their heart," she continued. "It has been the greatest honor of my life and career to represent the Philippines in the fashion industry and in this world."

Magno was born to a Filipino mother and an American father. She posted a throwback photo of the two on Instagram on Feb. 21, with the caption, “[A]nak ni Leng Leng + Tim.”

Modelling came naturally for young Magno as her mother, Lilian, was also a model back in the 80s. In her interview with Vogue Philippines, the model said that she started to embrace her Filipino heritage when she attended school in Hawaii.

These two aspects of her life eventually led her to pursue a modeling career instead of going through the traditional route of going to college.

Prior to her Vogue Philippines introduction, Magno already appeared on the cover of Vogue Thailand in December 2021, as well as Vogue Japan in August of the same year.
