For the first time ever, Maricar Reyes-Poon is finally speaking up about her past scandal that made headlines over a decade ago.

In her recently launched self-titled book, the entrepreneur is opening up about her “long journey and process of healing” after a crisis that turned her life around. “Thirteen years have passed and I’ve chosen not to talk about it…. until now,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

“I’m finally telling my side of the story—how I bounced back from the darkest chapter of my life.”

Maricar generated a lot of buzz on social media in 2009, when she got involved in a scandal caused by an inappropriate video that was leaked online and “destroyed her reputation."

In a separate IG post, the model said that her book took 12 years in the making. “Sobra siyang meaningful sa akin and it took a long time to heal and process.”

Noting that it’s “not a tell-all, Maritess chismis book,” Maricar hopes that she’d be able to spark a light in women who are also in dark places and let them know that they are not alone in them.

“If you guys are going through something na mabigat or something na mahirap and you don’t know how to solve it, there’s really a process. And don’t be too hard on yourself if you feel like ang tagal. Kasi ako nga 12 years bago naging okay enough to really talk about it,” she said.
