Elliot Page recalled the time he knew that he was a boy when he was just four years old.

In her new memoir Page Boy, the Oscar-nominated actor talked about one of his “earliest and clearest memories” in line with his gender identity. “I knew when I was four years old,” he revealed, adding that it was when he was studying at the YMCA preschool in Halifax in Canada.

“Primarily, I understood that I wasn’t a girl, not in a conscious sense but in a pure sense, uncontaminated,” he continued.

The Canadian star said he started liking girls at an early age.

At eight years old, he had a crush on actress Sandra Bullock after watching her in the movie Two If By Sea back in 1996. They became friends in the entertainment industry later on. “Sandra looked so cool, in jeans and a hip rocker T. She was nice, funny, and grounded, just as my eight-year-old self had imagined,” he wrote as he reminisced about the time they first met in Beverly Hills.

The Juno actor also recalled asking his mother if he could be a boy in his yesteryears. To which, the latter replied: “No, hon, you can’t. You’re a girl. But you can do anything a boy can do.”

Elliot came out as a transgender man on his social media pages in December 2020. “Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot,” he wrote in an Instagram post

“I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive.”

He also had a message for trans people “who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the threat of violence” each day. “I see you, I love you, and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better.”
