Hugh Jackman gets tested for skin cancer again after recent health check-up

Hugh Jackman opened up about getting tested for skin cancer again as he advised people to wear sunscreen every day.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, April 4, the Australian actor revealed his doctors spotted “little things” during his recent health check-up, adding they “could be or could not be basal cell.”

He’s expecting to get the results from his two biopsy procedures “in two or three days.”

According to the National Library of Medicine, basal cell carcinoma “mostly arises on sun-damaged skin and rarely develops on the mucous membranes or palms and soles.” It usually appears on clinical examination “as flesh- or pink-colored, pearly papules with overlying ulceration or telangiectatic vessels.”

While he noted that such is the “least dangerous” in terms of skin cancer, Jackman took the opportunity to stress the importance of including the use of sunblock in one's daily skincare routine. “Please wear sunscreen. It’s just not worth it, no matter how much you want a tan. Trust me,” he said.

"Put some sunscreen on. You'll still have an incredible time out there. Please be safe,” he added.

According to BBC News, the Wolverine star “had his first skin cancer removed in 2013, and has since had at least six procedures.”
