GOT7’s BamBam charms fans in Manila fan meet, reveals he’s ‘confident’ about his next album

Kunpimook Bhuwakul—also known as BamBam—has always been a charmer since he made his debut as a member of GOT7 in January 2014. Eight years later, he’s a confident soloist who found his own identity amid a saturated industry.

BamBam, who recently wrapped up his fan meeting in Cebu, made hundreds of Filipino Ahgases swoon as he faced the media on Thursday, July 28. The Thai soloist is already in a league of his own as he released songs like RiBBon, Who Are You, and Slow Mo, among others.

“[Being a member of GOT7] changed everything. It changed my life. I got to go to a lot of places and that’s why I was able to meet many [fans]. It changed myself too, the way I think. Even the way I see the world around me, it changed too,” BamBam said, looking back on his journey as a K-pop artist.

The Thai soloist added that he’s excited about the music he’s about to release, saying he’s “really confident about my next album right now.” With his signature charm, he skillfully didn’t divulge any details but he hopes to do a solo concert in the Philippines soon.

BamBam, however, almost had a slip of the tongue when singer-actor James Reid was mentioned by the audience, adding that they’ve been “talking about something.”

“James is one of my good friends. I just met him not too long ago and if I have the chance, I would love to have a collab with him,” he added.

When asked about the change that he’s most proud of, BamBam smiled in wonder as he initially admitted that it’s a “question that I should ask myself.”

“I guess it’s just me trying to do my best in everything. I wish that I could tell you what [change I’m most proud of] but Ahgases can help me in finding that out,” BamBam added.

Many K-pop fans know that it’s a challenge for Southeast Asian idols to succeed in the industry. But artists like BLACKPINK’s Lisa, (G)I-DLE’s Minnie, NCT’s Ten, 2PM’s Nichkhun, LAPILLUS’ Chanty, and BamBam have been paving the way despite the challenges.

While BamBam admitted that he’s “not successful”—much to fangirls’ protest—he said that the ingredient to success is to “just be yourself.”

“I want [aspiring artists] to know what they can do and not just follow other people. Just do what is possible for you. I want them to know exactly what you’re meant to do,” he added.

GOT7 is a group made of seven members, namely, BamBam, Jay B, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, and Yugyeom who are successful in their respective fields.

In his signature brand of “dogshow” humor, BamBam joked that he will “never seek advice” from his bandmates when it comes to his solo music. “No way, because they will steal my idea,” he said as Ahgases clapped their hands in delight.

BamBam is set to perform at the 2022 “K-pop Masterz” concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on July 29 alongside GOT7’s Jackson and K-pop boy group Treasure.
