Paolo Contis 'very happy' for LJ Reyes on her engagement: 'She deserves to be happy'
Paolo Contis said he's "very happy" for his ex-girlfriend LJ Reyes upon learning the news that she got engaged to her non-showbiz fiancé Philip Evangelista.
"Of course, I'm very happy for her. She deserves to be happy," the actor told GMA's Nelson Canlas in a text message when asked about the engagement.
LJ announced her engagement on social media on Wednesday, May 30, sharing photos of Evangelista's marriage proposal as well as the passage from Jeremiah 29:11: "'For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’"
LJ and Paolo broke up in 2021 after a six-year relationship. They share a daughter named Summer.
She has since moved to New York with Summer and Aki, her son with Paulo Avelino.
In a previous interview with Nelson, Paolo expressed willingness to go to New York, saying he misses Summer so much. He said he's reaching out to LJ through her lawyer, and is waiting for the "right time" and the "go signal" that he can.
Paolo is now in a "quiet relationship" with actress Yen Santos, his co-star in the 2021 movie A Faraway Land.
