Amanda Bynes' psychiatric hold to be extended

By Kristal de Leon Published Mar 27, 2023 1:30 pm

Amanda Bynes will remain in the psychiatric hold for at least a week, TMZ reported.

The She's the Man star, who was recently found roaming the streets of Los Angeles naked, is said to be “seriously focusing on getting better.”

Sources also told the media outlet that Amanda hasn't spoken to anyone from her family or close friends and that it is "unclear" if she has any recollection of the said incident.

According to the psychiatric facility currently holding the former actress, her stay might extend up to 30 days if she does not show any improvements.

On March 19, the 36-year-old actress called 911 on herself after experiencing a psychiatric episode that left her walking the streets of LA without clothes. She was then placed on 5150 hold.

Earlier reports say that Amanda, who has bipolar disorder and allegedly stopped taking her medication, left her home in mid-March using her car. But on March 15, her car then was towed in Long Beach, 40 miles away from her house. Sources said that they believe she used public transportation and hitchhiking to go around the city.

The incident happened just a year after her release on her nine-year legal conservatorship in which her parents oversaw her financial affairs on her behalf.
