Robi Domingo reminds voters to be wary of candidates leading pre-election surveys: 'Huwag magpapabudol'
Television host Robi Domingo has a gentle reminder to Filipinos: "Huwag magpapabudol" or do not get fooled in the upcoming May elections, especially with reported candidates who are leading pre-election surveys, who are alleged liars and thieves, and who are supposedly missing in action.
Domingo made the call in a video campaign with Young Public Servants, a youth group promoting good governance, which had also featured Angelica Panganiban.
In Panganiban's video last Feb. 1, she warned viewers about "manloloko" and "magnanakaw" candidates while doing household chores.
This time around, Domingo is hosting a fictitious game show called "All or Nothing."
"Either uuwi kang panalo o luhaan sa loob ng anim na taon," he said in the two-minute video posted on March 4. "Sa pagpili ng kandidato ngayong 2022, anong gagawin mo?"
He proceeds to give the four choices to his question, starting with "A. Manghula?" which he advises against as it's "sobrang deliks."
"Kung sa feelings nga, kailangang sigurado tayo bago tumaya sa taong mahal natin," Domingo said. "Dapat mas sigurado tayo doon sa pipiliin natin ngayong eleksyon."
"We can't fall for and be with the wrong person," as an "ooh" sound effect plays in the background.
For "B. Phone a Friend?," Domingo warned viewers about rampant disinformation during the elections.
"Mag-ingat sa mga sabi-sabi, dami pa namang fake news diyan," he said.
With "C. Survey Says," Domingo reminded "All or Nothing" contestants to take pre-election surveys with a grain of salt.
"Hindi porke't nangunguna 'raw,'" as he does air quotes, "magaling na."
"Minsan magaling lang mangbudol," he said, making face.
For the final option, "D. Piliin ang may Napatunayan," Domingo said Filipinos should opt for candidates who have a clean track record.
"Palaging nandiyan at hindi nagtatago," he said, as he points to his watch, noting that time's already running out and Filipinos must make up their minds by May.
"Tick tock tick tock, tumatakbo ang oras. At huwag puro TikTok," he said. "I-eliminate mo na iyong mga obvious namang mali."
Domingo, then, throws shade: "At huwag maniniwala sa mga pangakong ginto."
"GOLD daw?" can be read on the screen, as he grimaces while cartoon boing sound effects play in the background.
"Doon tayo sa magaling," Domingo declared, without naming any candidate. "Hindi sa sinungaling at hindi sa magnanakaw," as "HUWAG MAGPAPABUDOL" flashes on the screen afterward.
He also rhetorically asked if "May aapela ba," to which he said, "Game lang."
"Pero bangon muna," as the camera zooms out and shows Domingo who's apparently only "half-dressed" from the waist up. He's in boxer shorts, a reference to the running joke about the dressing habits of employees working from home due to COVID-19.
"At magpakita," Domingo ended as he walks out, jokingly slapping his left butt cheek. Choir-like voices then reitarated, "Huwag magpapabudol."
