K-pop powerhouse BIGBANG set to release new music as T.O.P leaves YG Entertainment

BIGBANG is finally returning to the music scene after four years.

YG Entertainment confirmed on Monday, Feb. 7 that K-pop veterans BIGBANG is set to make their first comeback after four years. 

The entertainment agency said the four-member group has “already completed recording their new song, and they are currently preparing to shoot the music video.” However, an official date is yet to be announced.

BIGBANG’s upcoming comeback marks the boy group’s first new music in four years since the release of Flower Road in March 2018.

Aside from the group’s much-awaited comeback, YG Entertainment also announced the departure of T.O.P from the agency after 16 years.

“T.O.P’s exclusive contract with YG has ended, and he will be taking on a wide variety of new challenges as both an artist and an entrepreneur,” YG said in a statement, as translated by Soompi

“We respected T.O.P’s desire to broaden the scope of his individual activities aside from just his promotions with BIGBANG, and he successfully came to an agreement about this with the other members. As long as the conditions are right, T.O.P will always participate in BIGBANG’s activities whenever he is able.” YG’s statement read.

BIGBANG originally debuted as a five-member group in August 2006. Initially composed of members G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri, the boy group’s most popular hits include Fantastic Baby, BANG BANG BANG, and Loser

Seungri announced his departure from the group and retirement from the entertainment industry in March 2019.
