There's no doubt about it: Kathryn Bernardo truly has a heart of gold as it was revealed that she helped one of her castmates on the children's comedy show Goin' Bulilit continue his education by paying for his tuition fee.

This little trivia was shared by the show's director Bobot Mortiz in his video message for the local star during her recently concluded contract renewal with ABS-CBN Star Magic.

As he praised Kathryn for her talent and work ethic, Bobot shared a kind gesture that the actress did in the past for one of her co-stars.

"Ang hindi ko alam na ginagawa pala ni Kathryn na natuwa ako, nakita ko yung isang nanay ng isang Bulilit tapos kinwento niya sa'kin, nung namatay yung tatay ng Bulilit na ito, ang nagpaaral na sa kanya ay si Kathryn," he revealed.

"Tuwang-tuwa ako na 'di pala siya nakalimot sa mga nakasama niya. Proud na proud ako kay Kathryn," he added.

In an interview with entertainment reporter MJ Felipe, Kathryn recalled more details about helping out her castmate with his financial issues.

"During that time, the dad, naging kaibigan namin ni mama 'yun. Sila 'yung sabay [kami] kakain sa Goin' Bulilit. And then, for a time, parang nag-stop na mag-artista yung tao na 'to. I won't name him na. Nag-stop siya mag-artista, then naka-receive kami ng message from the mom na ito 'yung nangyari sa dad," the actress shared.

Having formed a bond with him during their stint, Kathryn just couldn't turn a blind eye to a friend in need.

"Bilang nakasama mo, syempre tutulong ka hangga't kaya mo, so 'yun 'yung pinromise namin ni mama sa dad niya na tutulungan ka namin kasi isa 'yun sa dreams ng dad niya sa kanya na makatapos ng college because he's so smart, and alam mo rin 'yung mga tao na masarap tulungan kasi masipag," she said.

During her contract signing, Kathryn thanked her friends from the industry who were there with her during her toughest times last year.

"Last year was a very, very hard time for me," she said. "It’s so hard to find real friends in the industry. Ni-prove nila possible din na makahanap ka ng mabubuting tao sa industriya… Sila ‘yung mga nandyan especially nung pinakakailangan ko sila. Thank you for staying and thank you for being with me throughout all this."

She is currently set to star in an upcoming movie titled Elena 1944, which is set during the Japanese occupation.
