Chris Evans reveals he is ‘laser-focused’ on finding a lifelong partner

Forget about Captain America’s commitment to saving the world in Avengers, or Lloyd Hansen’s dedication to slaying a mercenary in The Gray Man. Chris Evans' new goal is to secure a partner to spend his life with.

During a recent interview, Shondaland’s Mariel Turner asked if Evans had anything in his personal life that is similar to how absorbed his Hansen character is with tracking down his target enemy.

Seconds after giving this some careful thought, the 41-year-old actor responded that he is currently zeroing in on finding a partner.

“The answer would be that, maybe [I’m] laser-focused on finding a partner, you know, someone that you wanna live [with],” the Hollywood heartthrob admitted.

He added that despite his passion for acting, the industry is filled with “pockets of doubt, hesitation, and recalibration.” Thus, in terms of seeking things he would pour his all into, he expressed that “maybe it’s about trying to find someone that you’re looking to spend your life with.”

Prior to his response to finding romance, the Marvel actor told the interviewer: “You know what, we’re gonna do this. I’m gonna give you a good answer.”

Perhaps, the initial answer relates to how Evans rarely brings up love life updates. Evans had been in a long-term relationship with Jessica Biel and was in talks to have a supposed wedding before their 2005 split. He was also reportedly linked to several famous actresses like Ashley Greene (Twilight series), Sandra Bullock (Miss Congeniality), and Lily James (Mamma Mia).

Chris also had a long run with Jenny Slate, his costar in Gifted. The relationship began in 2016 and ended in 2017. They gave it another shot after the breakup but officially called it quits in early 2018. Always having kept his love life on the down low, the Knives Out actor’s relationship with Slate was reported to have been his last public one.

When The Hollywood Reporter asked Evans last 2019 about how he functions in relationships, he admitted that he was always been “autonomous” after expressing that he “fears being enveloped.”

“I’m the one who fears being enveloped. I was always a really autonomous guy my whole life,” said Evans. “I really like to be with someone who also has their own thing to do as well, you know? If I’m with someone who just kind of adopts my life, that can feel a bit suffocating.”

Chris’ latest movie role is a villainous and professional killer in the Netflix film The Gray Man, which will premier on July 22 but has been out in select theaters since July 15. He co-stars with Ryan Gosling (La La Land and upcoming Barbie movie), who plays the skilled Court Gentry spy hunted down by Evans’ psycho character after the mercenary discovers dark CIA secrets.

Other cast members include Ana de Armas, Billy Bob Thornton, Jessica Henwick, and Julia Butters.

The film—which was reported to have a 200 million dollar budget (almost P11.3 billion)—is directed by AGBO’s Joe and Anthony Russo, who based the action movie on a 2009 novel by Mary Greaney.

The screenplay was done by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who also wrote for the Captain America and Avengers movies directed by the Russo brothers.
