8 K-pop idols you didn't know have mixed-race identities

K-pop has definitely caught the hearts of curious fans on the internet. Even so, are you sure that you know what your favorite idols have to offer? 

As you dive more into K-pop, you’ll discover that mixed-race stars have been dominating the industry with their talent, visuals, and charm. One of them includes Filipina-Argentinian Chantal Videla or Chanty who debuted in MLD Entertainment’s rookie girl group, LAPILLUS.  

Without further ado, allow us to list down eight mixed K-pop idol idols that deserve our attention.

LAPILLUS’ Chanty 

Tall, beautiful, and LAPILLUS’ vitamin, Chanty said at the group’s debut showcase that it was BTS who inspired her to become a K-pop idol. She was a former Star Magic Circle Batch 2018 artist alongside Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano. 

Momoland’s Nancy 

Born to a Korean mother and American father of Irish origin, Nancy debuted as a member of Momoland after competing on Mnet's reality show Finding Momoland. She was set to star in an ABS-CBN series James Reid but the project was postponed due to the pandemic. 

AESPA’s Giselle 

 Am I synked out? Can't see where my reflection at?” Giselle or Uchinaga Aeri is a half-Japanese, half-Korean idol who debuted as Aespa’s main rapper in 2020.

Talented and charismatic, the lovable Huening siblings are born to a Korean mother and an American-Brazilian father. Kai is currently a member of TXT, while Bahiyyih debuted as a vocalist of Kep1er after competing on the survival show Girls Planet 999.  

NCT and WAYV’s Lucas

Lucas, who is of Thai and Chinese origins, is said to be SM Entertainment’s first mixed-race-’dol. He debuted as the rapper of NCT and lead dancer of its Chinese subunit WayV.

The Korean-American Vernon came to South Korea when he was five years old and since then, he pursued his dreams of becoming a K-pop idol. He debuted as the visual and lead rapper of Seventeen in 2015.
