WATCH: Gab Pangilinan and Myke Salomon get engaged on the 'Mula Sa Buwan' stage
The closing night of any theatrical show is a special event in it and of itself, but for Mula sa Buwan's lead actors, Gab Pangilinan and Myke Salomon, it became a once-in-a-lifetime night.
Before the curtains closed on Sept. 18, 2022, thunderous applause was given to the Pat Valera and William Elvin Manzano-helmed play during its final curtain call, but its leading man seemed to have other plans.
When it was his turn to be applauded, Myke went into character as World War II soldier, Cyrano.
"Ako ay may hiling, sana paunlakan niyo. Pag bilang ko ng tatlo..."
A confused Gab then reacted: "Ano?"
The show's judge character then came on stage and handed Gab a letter, which she promptly read as the crowd and their cast members cheered on.
The letter reads: "Liham para kay Gabriella Pangilinan. May matinding kahilingan ang buwan na imbitahin ka upang makausap si Myke. Mayroon daw siyang sasabihing mahalagang bagay. Pero sige, ilalahad ko na dito para itago mo ang iyong liham na ito. Maari ka bang imbitahin maging ligaya, pangarap, at pagasa? Dahil ikaw ang aking awit na kailanman di lilipas, kahapon, ngayon, hanggang sa isang milyong bukas."
"Oo, pag-iisang dibdib. Dahil nais ko iyong maging kawal, katuwang, at kakampi sa habang buhay."
Mike then proceeded to join Gab's side and get down on one knee. With thousands of people and their loved ones looking on, Gab nodded yes and hug Gab on the Samsung Performing Arts Theater stage.
A few hours after the proposal, Gab shared photos of the moment on social media and just how special it was for the longtime couple and actors.
"For this to have happened on the stage — the very place that has saved us both, doing what we love most in the world — there couldn’t have been a more perfect moment," she wrote.
Myke also took to social media to share that he could have done the proposal in the dressing room, but decided to share the special moment on the stage instead.
"Actually, pwede naman namin gawin to sa dressing room pagkatapos ng show, pero pinili ko gawin sa sagradong tahanan. Ang entablado.. kung saan ang lahat ng kulay ng emosyon, ngiti, palakpak, tawa, luha, saya, pag ibig at katotohanan ay umaapaw," Salomon said.
"TBH: we just wanted to share with everyone our crazy, unique love for each other."
Mula sa Buwan is a musical about unrequited love and war set in 1940s Manila, where young idealists fight for their place in a country on the brink of war. Salomon plays World War II soldier, Cyrano, while Pangilinan plays his strong love interest, Roxane.
Mula Sa Buwan is set for another theatrical run this December 2022.
