Bea Alonzo, Dominic Roque break silence about split: 'It was not an easy decision'
Bea Alonzo has broken her silence about the end of her relationship with Dominic Roque.
The couple took to Instagram to post a lengthy statement on the issue, fronted with a photo of her and then-fiancé Dominic together.
"After much thought, consideration, and care, we have mutually decided to amicably end our engagement," they said, adding confirmation to the breakup.
"It was not an easy decision. We wanted to have more time to carefully deliberate and pray about it, but there have been many speculations, questions, and insults," the ex-couple added.
Additionally, Bea and Dominic talked about how there were people who confirmed their split "without consent" and how others created "ridiculous" stories about it.
"Unfortunately, some even confirmed our breakup without our consent, and some created ridiculous stories that had no basis and were utterly false, so we felt the need to share this announcement with great sadness, for our peace of mind and our families," they added.
On February 6, Boy Abunda told the public that the engaged couple had parted ways as rumors began spreading online. Ogie Diaz earlier said in a vlog that Bea and Dom have not been talking.
When Abunda broke the news, he said that the former couple were "trying to understand each other, but they're going through a rough patch." He added that Bea returned the ring to Dominic.
Days after the breakup announcement, Dominic asked the public to stop bashing his ex-fiancée and said that Bea was a "beautiful person inside [and] out. No hate/bashing/negative things please."
At the end of her post, the actor and actress asked for Filipinos to spare them from cruel and hurtful words online.
"We kindly request to give us the privacy we need as we navigate our future lives with respect, kindness, compassion, and dignity," they ended.
Bea and Dominic were first linked in 2019 and publicized their relationship in August 2021. The actor popped the question in July 2023 in an afternoon in Las Casas.
